A great time was had by all in what some referred to as the "social weekend with a bit of fencing". Saturday and Sunday were the London International Universities Fencing Tournament, and a number of Southampton students journeyed up to King's Cross to compete.
 
Despite injuries afflicting the women's team (and the discovery of a rather nice cocktail bar just across the road from the hostel), Southampton combatants made a good account of themselves in all three weapons.
 
Off the piste, a fort was built, an African restaurant served up somewhat dubious "pancakes", and Cardiff fencers attempted to post themselves to Leon Paul. So a pretty average weekend away.
