Well, I would try and assemble some foils but I don't have any training yet! I still need to find time to get some training off Will.
Also, are there any working sabres by any chance?
And another thing is, does anybody know where my Jiang foil I ordered in october/november is!? I could really do with it right now!

Come to fencing next Tuesday, and I will show you how to put a foil together. It takes about 30 seconds!

I might not be able to because I've got some exams during that period. I can come to fencing on the thursday though. If you teach me then, I could probably fix some foils up on friday morning? By the way, can you help me fix my one up, the tang needs cutting down and set needs to be put on it.

OK then, I'll show you then then. I'll bring a saw so we can cut the tang down, and try to wrestle a set onto it for you.

Ok, quite a few people are asking to borrow club kit. I'm honestly not sure how much kit the club has that's working, and how much we have that can be repaired reasonably easily - i've only glanced through the stuff in Stoneham. So that we get some idea of who needs what, can we get a list of everyone who wants to borrow club kit and what they want to borrow?
I have a couple of days free after my last exam, before the competition in which I should be able to sort most of it out, however, I still don't have a great deal of experience with actually fixing weapons, so if there's anyone who'd be willing to give me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark

As assistant armourer I guess I have to have some hand in helping you! I'm free as of midday on thursday until fencing obviously. And also all of friday until we leave. I'm sure eager beaver Kit will help us out too since hes also a mech eng.

Just for the record, i would like to borrow a foil and an epee if that is possible, from the club. I have ordered a spare set of body wires, although if they don't arrive in time, then would it be possible to borrow some club wires as my spare?
and one last question, will they not let you fence if you only have 1 weapon?

It's not that they won't let you fence, it's more that it's a "risk" to you if you do.
I doubt there will be weapons checks, but you never know.... But assume for a minute that there are on-piste controls (weight, travel gauge in epee), and that your only weapon fails it.
You will receive a yellow-card for coming on-piste with a non-functional weapon. If you don't have a spare, you'll receive a red card (so your opponent will get a free point) for not having a spare. You'll continue getting red cards for every weapon you bring on-piste that fails the controls or is not in working condition (missing grub screws, etc.).
This can be quite costly. At the BUSAs in Nottingham back in December, there were a few cases of people starting pool round matches 2 or 3 points down because their weapons failed the piste control checks, they didn't have a spare, and when they got one it also failed the check.
Hope that clears it up, Francois
